National Office closed for Thanksgiving

In honor of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, the National Office will be closed on November 26 and 27. Although Thanksgiving is not a liturgical celebration, this holiday has many Catholic overtones. The church itself teaches that the celebration of the Holy Eucharist is an act of thanksgiving. In fact, the word Eucharist comes from the Greek “eucharistia,” which literally means “thanksgiving.” 

In whatever way we choose to celebrate this holiday, let us take a moment to count our blessings and give thanks for the love we share with those around our table. And may we remember to extend our hand to those who have no table or community to gather with.
