Meet Our Staff

Brother Paul Bednarczyk, CSC, executive director, has been serving in his position since July 2002. A native of Connecticut, his prior ministries include 12 years of secondary education in Maryland and Rome, Italy, where he was a teacher, campus minister, and administrator, and nine years as vocation director for the Congregation of Holy Cross, Eastern Province of Brothers. Brother Paul was also a member of his Provincial Council, where he served one term as director of formation. He has written a number of articles on religious life and is regularly invited to speak on the topic of vocation ministry.

  Sister Deborah M. Borneman, SS.C.M., associate director, began her position at NRVC in August, 2011. A Sister of St. Cyril and Methodius and a native of Pittsburgh, PA, Sister Debbie served 10 years as vocation director for her congregation. She has also ministered as coordinator for vocation awareness programs for the Diocese of Harrisburg and as a certified Catholic campus minister at Bloomsburg University of PA. Other previous ministry experiences include: youth ministry, religious education, and parish pastoral care. Sister Debbie has a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University of Chicago.

  Debbie Prieto, PA, administrative assistant, began working for the NRVC in July 2006. In addition to being a former legal secretary, Debbie was the administrative secretary for the Department of Modern Languages at Indiana University-NW. Committed to the church and her faith, she has also served as a lay missionary for four years in East Africa.

Carol Schuck Scheiber, editor of HORIZON and the NRVC newsletter, Focus on Vocation Ministry, has edited NRVC publications since 1998 and has been content editor of the NRVC's VISION Vocation Discernment Guide since 1991. With 20 years' experience in journalism and communications, Carol works from her home office in Toledo, Ohio where she lives with her husband and three children.

Al Spenadel, CPA, provides tax and accounting services for the NRVC. He has been a CPA for the past 25 years and specializes in small businesses and start-up companies. He received his BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois in Champaign and a MS in Taxation from DePaul University in Chicago.
